About Me

Welcome to my blog!  My name is Tanie Miller Kabala and I am a clinical psychologist at the West Chester Wellness Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  I am passionate about helping people find greater peace, meaning, authenticity, and happiness in their lives.  I provide individual and group psychotherapy and lead both individual and group meditation sessions.

I was fortunate to receive exceptional psychotherapy training at Georgetown University, George Washington University, George Mason University, and the University of Delaware; and earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology with honors in 2003.  I have been practicing for over fifteen years and have practiced in multiple settings including college and university counseling centers, community mental health centers, and private practices.

My approach to psychotherapy could be described as active, engaged, collaborative, and optimistic. I believe that each person, when given the tools and support, can overcome his or her problems and live a happier, more fulfilling, and more authentic life. In terms of my personal style, my clients consistently describe me as warm, non-judgmental, easy to talk to, and supportive.

I utilize psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and interpersonal techniques in my practice.  In essence, I believe that positive change develops through both insight and action.  Therefore, I strive to help my clients do three things: explore how their problems developed (to prevent repetition), identify the changes they would like to make, and then determine how to put those changes into action. As I work collaboratively with my clients using this approach, they frequently report that they feel happier, more content, and more empowered.
